Top 10 Summer Essentials

Summer is here and everyone is excited for the holidays. There are some great clothes and must-have accessories to create the perfect summer look. I've put together a quick list of affordable style essentials to pack for your holidays or to rock at home.

1. SUNGLASSES

Sunglasses are a basic human right and the ultimate summer must-have! Be creative and choose a pair that works with your outfit and suit your face shape. Choose some that will get you noticed in the crowd! I always choose oversized sunglasses to create the celebrity look.

2. SUN CREAM/FAKE TAN

Not a fashon accessory as such but anything that prevents burnt red skin is definitely an essential. Protect your skin with a high quality sun cream.

Its fun to spend time in the sun, but spending hours sunbathing for a tan is boring and bad for your skin. Try using a quality fake tan to get the beach bronzed look quickly. I recommend St. Moriz which is a cheaper alternative to St. Tropez. Less is definately more when using tan, so as long as you don't drown yourself in it you shouldn't go orange. Use a little and spread in even circles with a tanning mit.

3. HATS/HEADBANDS

Hats are back in fashion and perfect for the summer. Guys should wear a colourful snapback - do not wear back to front! Girls should try rocking the classic straw hat which works with practically everything. Not a fan? Why not try a flower headband? DIY headbands are also fun to make and satisfying to wear after your done.

4. PRINTED TSHIRTS/VESTS

Colourful prints have returned and Urban Outfitters and ASOS have some amazing prints to offer. Choose a style that's as wacky and colourful as your personality. But what to put it with...

5. DENIM JACKET

For an evening summer look, team your printed vest with a vintage denim jacket. Levi are the best but usually come with a heavy price tag when bought retail. Head to a reliable vintage store and grab yourself some bargains. I picked up a vintage Levi jacket for £20/$31 at a vintage store once. Enough said.

6. SHOES

Obviously if your planning a trip to the beach sandals/flip flops are a must. I strongly recommend Hollister for these as they look the prettiest.

For an evening look, wear some fashionable pumps or plimsolls with rolled up jog pants or 3/4 shorts for a look that's 10 out of 10.

7. BAGS

An oversized tote is perfect for holding all your beach essentials. There are thousands to choose from so pick one that reflects your personality.

8. JEWELLERY

Wooden jewellery is everywhere and cheap to buy. Wooden effect jewellery seems to work with most outfits so it gives you more opportunity to wear it. For necklaces I suggest buying a long chained pendant to finish off your beach look.

9. HEADPHONES

Fashion + Function. Headphones are now the ultimate accessory. Buy a big, bright, statement pair of headphones to add a stylish new dimension to your look. Listen to all your summer tunes in the day and leave them round your neck at night. Genius!

10. CAMERA

You cant go to all the trouble of creating the perfect outfit without snapping some pictures! Take photos at every opportunity so you can remember every second of your summer holidays.
